Hi,
I've been trying to figure out a way to import the Open-Street-Map mapping data for Japan into QMapShack so that I can do offline route planning when touring.
The OsmAnd map data can be downloaded as a "PBF" file, but, apart from using it to create route data, it seems nothing else can be done with it in QMapShack.
I would have expected to be able to render the map data and list/search through the POIs in the data.
Is this possible?
I'm very sorry, but while the program is awesome, it is very difficult to figure out how to use it for what seems to me are some very basic usage requests. I used to use Garmin products with MapSource which are quite esoteric to use by todays standards as well, but it was still quite easy to figure out how to create routes, search for waypoints, etc.
While I can use an online tiled map provider for OSM maps in QMapShack (with an internet connection), and it displays the various POIs, the POIs can't be clicked on for any information nor can they be searched for - they are simply rendered icons on the raster maps which makes them rather useless.
Thank you,
- Micha.
